The stationary Mars robot

You know, I thought for a while how to best put NASA’s InSight mission into perspective. It’s not a rover and, as it were, not roving around on Mars’ surface like the other robots we successfully sent there did and do.

It sounds rather boring, really. What insights can one get from sitting around on one spot?

Then you read, you see the science, you start understanding. You will have to click on the source link below which takes you to NASA’s webpages and take it from there yourself, but something tells me you won’t be disappointed if you do.

To me, InSight’s lander is like the loner with the thin, wispy beard on the mountain. No apparent contact with everything or anything but still knowing all there is to know. 🙂
