Transparent air?

I can’t say that I know. I won’t say that I know. Nevertheless, I sometimes think that vistas like this one must have played a part in ancient scientists asking themselves what (or even whether) air really is.

I mean, look at it! It’s transparent enough for us to rely on sight as our main sense. There is something in it, though, something that makes it less transparent than it could be.

What would that be?

Must be the same stuff that blows the snot out of your nose on a stormy day. 🙂
